Born on July 29, 1953 in Kampala, Uganda, Raymond spent the first 18 years of his life in Entebbe, Uganda before moving to Goa, India and eventually settling in Hamilton, Ontario, where he raised his three children (Christopher, Colin, and Carol-Anne) alongside his loving and dedicated wife of 40 years, Maureen. His deep fondness of his younger years in Africa led him to revisit Uganda with his eldest son in 2015.
Raymond, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, and friend, had many passions including running, sailing, live music, travelling, movies, reading, and photography. His friendly nature, love of debate, and vast knowledge allowed him to easily converse with anyone he met. Anyone chatting with Raymond would always walk away more knowledgeable.
His immense love of running was a source of inspiration for his family and friends. Raymond was an avid runner for 40 years and competed in countless marathons. He was happiest when his family joined him on his races and cheered him on. Raymond developed cherished friendships through his running journey and always encouraged his family and friends to be active.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife Maureen, their children Christopher (Chenthila), Colin (Jermaine), and Carol-Anne, his siblings Osmond (Sucheta), Rosalind (Euclid), Edmund (Lydia), Cheryl (Abel), Francesca, and granddaughter Luna. He has been reunited with his beloved parents, Maria Bertha and Joseph Lobo in Heaven.
