Anna Marie D’Cruz was the only child of Freda and Aloysius D’Cruz. She was born in Malaysia and the family later migrated to Canada on July 2nd. 1970 and moved to Guelph in December. A warm and intelligent girl, Anna Marie excelled in school, graduating first from Bishop MacDonnell High School in Guelph and later from McMaster University in Hamilton.

Anna Marie was her parents’ pride and joy. She played the piano beautifully and completed her Grade 10 with the Royal Conservatory of Music. Kind, generous and friendly, she got along well with people of all ages.

Just after her graduation from university in May of 1989, Anna Marie was diagnosed with lupus. In July of that year, with doctors’ approval, the family took a trip to visit relatives in Malaysia. Then after celebrating her 23rd. birthday there, our dear girl’s condition worsened. She was admitted to hospital and died the following month in Malaysia, on August 25, 1989.

Her cremated remains were brought home to Guelph and are interred at Our Lady Immaculate Mausoleum, in Marymount Catholic Cemetery.
