Maureen and I met at a Cathedral High School Football Victory celebration in 1958.The cafeteria was packed with jubliant students! We all cheered and danced to mark the feat. At one point, I was looking for a dance partner and turned and asked this gorgeous girl to dance. She immediately accepted. We had a great time together and got to know each other. I could hardly believe that this beauty was fourteen years old! That meeting led to marriage and three super children, Eddy, David and Lisa, and five remarkable grandchildren. She got tremendous joy playing with them often, chasing them in the house or they chasing her outside in games resulting in lots of laughter and tickles. She instilled the love of reading in them, often with bedtime stories and the many exciting books she gifted them with whenever she went into a bookstore. Maureen was always encouraging at all hockey games and swim meets with her “boys,” often boasting about their success! She deeply loved her girls as well – enjoyng them kissing and hugging whenever she could. She was out of this world with the birth of our latest grandson, visiting him in the hospital and beaming with pride. Maureen often said that she was the only sane one in the family because she wasn’t a golfer! She enjoyed the Tartan Club annual golf outing because of the dinner and dance which followed. She won the ladies putting contest and took pride in the beautiful trophy! She loved to dance and would often go to legion functions for that reason. She enjoyed walks at the trails at The R.B.G. (27-year member), the beach front, Spencer Park, LaSalle Park and above all Gage Park where she enjoyed bicycling, feeding the squirrels, visitng The Tropical Green House, and The Mum Show with her precious grandchildren! Maureen was an incredible daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother! We have many beautiful memories of our special gift, Maureen, until we meet again!!
